Premature ejaculation affect an estimated 30 to 83% of men. Many men attempt to use medications to fix this problem, including the antidepressant, dapoxetine. Dapoxetine is approved to treat pre-mature ejaculation outside of the United States. Unfortunately, medications come with side effects, especially anti-depressants.
Fortunately, researchers from Anglia Ruskin University in the UK found a solution for premature ejaculation without the risky side effects of drugs.
Published in the journal Trends in Urology & Men’s Health, researchers reviewed 54 studies over the past 49 years, with a total of nearly 3500 participants. The found that physical activity led to improvement of premature ejaculation nearly identical to medications.
Exercises ranged from running 30 minutes, five times a week to doing pelvic floor exercises. They also found positive benefits with psychotherapy.
“Our paper is a comprehensive review of studies into non-pharmacological interventions for this common complaint, and there are clear indications that physical exercse, including running and engaging the pelvic floor muscles, show promise in several studies.”
Antidepressants often have proud side-effects including sexual ones including decreased libido, gynecomastia, and erectile dysfunction. Which one can assume erectile dysfunction is a solution for premature ejaculation. So why bother with those side effects when you can just exercise more that leads to more benefits than an antidepressant ever will provide including increased feeling of wellbeing and increase testosterone.
