Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a family of chronic inflammatory disease of the intestines that most commonly exist as Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis.
Researchers from University of Groningen in the Netherlands analyzed 125,445 subjects and found that a Western dietary pattern and a meat heavy diet were most highly correlated to developing inflammatory bowel disease.
The first dietary pattern with an increased risk of developing IBD, particularly that of Crohn’s Disease, is a “Western” dietary pattern of processed food such as snacks, prepared meals, non-alcoholic beverages, sauces and low in vegetables and fruit.
The second dietary pattern that was linked to IBD, that of Ulcerative Colitis, is a carnivorous one high in red meat, poultry, and processed meats.
At Man of Honor Magazine, we promote neither diets. Real men eat their fruits and vegetables, not prostrate from abdominal pain as a result of their IBD from their shitty dietary choices.
