The quest for aphrodisiacs has escaped humans centuries and maybe millennia. However, it could it have been right in front of us all along disguised as a common spice?
In a study published in the journal Sexes, researchers found that ginger may be a powerful enhancer of sexual desire. The study involved 500 participants. Participants were asked to complete an online survey that also included questions about their ginger intake, sexual behaviors, and sexual desire.
The investigators found that ginger consumption was significantly associated with higher sexual desire and further more frequent sexual behaviors and high arousal.
Ginger consumers reported higher frequency of sexual fantasy, masturbation, and dyadic sexual behaviors. It was also found that that their arousals were higher during these acts as well.
So while the taste of ginger can be unpleasant for many, studies find that ginger comes with a sweet after taste. Next time, don’t leave that ginger in your dish uneaten. Your friends may look at you weird, but if you know, you know.
