High fiber diets, diets where you’re eating lots of fruits, vegetables, and other unprocessed food from plants, can lead to healthier brains, protecting people from dementia. Foods the typical American is not eating enough of…or at all.
Researchers from Japan published a in Nutritional Neuroscience that investigated the association of fiber intake and likelihood of developing dementia. They reviewed over 3700 adults in Japan who completed dietary surveys for almost 20 years, from 1999 to 2020.
They divided the subjects into four groups based on how much fiber they ate and found that the group who ate the most fiber and the lowest risk of develop gin dementia.
They also investigated the difference between soluble and insoluble fiber and found that their were more benefit from soluble fiber in protecting against dementia. However, both types of fiber intake was important. However, the diet could not prevent dementia if someone had a stroke, according to their study.
Real men eat fruits and vegetables, and lots and lots of it so they can age more gracefully enjoying their lives. Good father should also feed their kids lots and lots of vegetables because protecting your kids from bad health is good parenting.
