Let’s face it, there’s nothing more dishonorable in a man than being a shitty father, and recent study from PLOS One bring some dark clouds on the current status of new fathers in the United States…or maybe it’s just Georgia, as researchers analyzed 857 fathers’ survey in Georgia from October 2018 to July 2019, 2-6 months after baby’s birth.

Sadly, their analysis found that 70% of the new fathers were overweight or obese, 18.5% were smokers, 13.1% were binge drinking (consuming five or more alcoholic drinks within a small period of time), and 10% were feeling depressed.

“Fatherhood presents an opportunity for men to improve their own health, and healthy fathers are more likely to participate in child-rearing, support mothers in parenting and have healthy children,” said first author, Craig Garfield.

To those fathers, get your shit together, man up, no excuses, and take care of your family because your child and you baby’s mother needs you. Of course to be fair, the survey came from one state in the US with a shared culture and more data as a whole is needed.
