It’s no surprise that men can have bad temper and poor emotional control (compared to a quality man who would not have these control issues), and these emotional upset and anger outbursts are just another pathway to debility and death for men.

In a study, termed the INTERSTROKE study, researchers analyzed over 13,000 stroke cases and found that 1 out of 11 strokes, the stroke victim experienced emotional upset or anger one hour prior to the stroke occurrence.

First author of the study, Andrew Smyth, stated, “Our research found that anger or emotional upset was linked to an approximately 30 per cent increase in risk of stroke during one hour after an episode — with a greater increase if the patient did not have a history of depression.”

In addition, the studiers also found heavy physical exertion was a high risk factor one hour prior to hemorrhagic stroke, a stroke much rarer than ischemic strokes.

The results were applicable to both men and women in the study.

Despite how the media can portray masculinity as strong and angry, such emotions and their lack of control of, are detrimental to ones health. Once again proving that a cool and controlled demeanor is a better trait for men to follow than the angry, vein-bulging, Incredible Hulk look.
