Published in the journal Cancer Medicine, researchers found that that high intake of dairy products increased the risk of developing prostate cancer.

The study from Japan included 26,464 men between the age of 40 to 79 years old and 412 cases of prostate cancer. Men who consumed the most amount of dairy products, particularly that of milk and yogurt, had elevated their risk of developing prostate cancer by 37% compared to those who consumed the least amount of dairy in a dose-response manner.

Such mechanisms leading to prostate cancer development may have come from a combination of interaction IGF-1, calcium and vitamin D, and dairy fat. Dairy intake is cancer by the jug for men in the second most common cancer amongst men, prostate.
