Data presented at the AUA2021 Virtual Experience, researchers found that a plant-based diet have profound protective effects against prostate cancer and erectile dysfunction.
In the study entitled Plant Based Diets are Associated with Decreased Risk of Erectile Dysfunction, utilizing the NHANES III database, researchers found that a healthful. plant-based diet was associated with a decreased risk of erectile dysfunction. The study involved 2549 men and the assessment of their dietary patters.
Another study, entitled Association of Plant-Based Dietary Patterns with Prostate Cancer Risk, included approximately 47,000 men from the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study cohort found that those who ate the most healthful plant-based diet in the highest quintile had an overall 19% decrease risk of dying from prostate cancer. In addition, the study found that amongst men younger than 65 y/o, the higher the intake of a healthful plant-based diet, the less chance of develop prostate cancer and developing an aggressive disease.
